Feilding Youth Brass is a great band for beginner musicians of brass and percussion instruments. The band gives the opportunity for players to gain experience in a band environment and prepare them for moving on to the senior band.
The band performs around 4 times a year and has recently performed at local rest homes and school galas. Their annual performances include an End of Year concert and participating at the Feilding Festival with brass and concert bands from all around the lower and central North Island.
The music that Feilding Youth Brass performs covers a wide range of styles. Some of the music is especially written for beginner level bands, while other pieces are simplified arrangements of well known tunes. The band play marches, hymns, folk songs and TV and movie themes like the Flintstones, Star Wars and Harry Potter.
Would you like to learn an instrument and join Feilding Youth Brass?
Youth Brass rehearses on Monday nights, between 7pm and 8pm, at the Feilding band rooms, Council Place, Feilding. Instrument tuition is typically at 6:40pm on Monday nights.
Fees are $20 per school term, which covers instrument, tuition and music. Band members are required to have their own black trousers, black shoes, black socks and a white top. Feilding Brass supplies a waistcoat for each player.
When a player is good enough to perform as a member of the band, they are expected to make every effort to attend all gigs, typically 3-4 per year.
